Lately, I've been obsessing on creating little pieces of art either in my sketchbook or on index cards which start off with scribbles. Then a few more scribbles. Next I add some watercolor washes, some tangles, and then some shading.
These are so relaxing to do. I don't have any direction in mind where I expect them to go. I don't worry about the final outcome, simply enjoy the process!!
I especially like adding at least one of the scribble strings with crayon. I've made some scribbles with my eyes closed. That's interesting too!
Here are a few of my attempts:
I used a charcoal pencil then did a wash over that. Next I used a red water-based marker for the second layer of scribble. I put down the second scribble while the paper was still wet from the wash over the charcola pencil. A yellow overhead pencil was used to add some tangle patterns.
I did this one following the same process as for the first scribble attempt.
This one is my favorite!! Instead of the charcoal pencil, I used an "inktense watercolor pencil - chinese black for the first layer of scribble. I also used this same pencil to add some shading. The next two scribble layers were added with crayons!!! A white crayon and a neon pink crayon. Over that I added watercolor washes using only blue/green.
