Are there perfect Zentangles?
In the Zentangle® method, there are no mistakes.
True, we do at times do things that are unintended or unexpected. We can take
advantage of these "oops" moments and learn from them - develop a new pattern
or take the piece in a new direction. Sometimes these moments turn into those,
"Ahaa!" times, in which we suddenly have an epiphany of understanding.
One should be spontaneous while enjoying the process of Zentangle®.

Worrying about making a perfect Zentangle® can impede this process. Realize that the little
imperfections in tangles very often add the most charm to your work. Embrace
your imperfections in Zentangle® and in life!

Tangle Prompt: Draw a tic-tac-toe grid (draw it freehand - don't
try to be perfect!) In 5 of the grid sections draw tangles. You may
want to use this exercise to explore new patterns. Save the other 4
grid sections for your writing.
Writing Prompt: Talk about how imperfection enhances life/your life/your
art/your experience.

Hello - My imperfect journal entry is up on my blog. This was a great prompt for me - being "perfect" is something I've always had to work on because I am one of those "over-achiever" please-other-people folks. In fact, I used a ruler, the first three attempts on this page - then I reread your prompt and realized that I needed to let go of it. :-)
ReplyDeleteIts great to meet other's that love the imperfection of themselves and their art.
ReplyDeleteLove the Journal so far :)
ReplyDeleteJust letting you know that I am doing my first art journal and following along with you. I am not an artist nor have I had any art lessons, but I love doing this. Have taught myself to tangle from the sites on the computer and have been practising for several months now. I love having your promps to get me going on the next blank page. Thanks for doing this. I don't have a blog but may pin some pages to pinterest. Mary
