Another tile from the box, "Work in Progress" found its way into my hands. I decided to play with a tangleation of Nipa. Nipa is one of the original Zentangle Tangles. You can find the step outs here: NIPA
I like how this came out and add it to my 2021 calendar!
I used some of my Zentangle 3.5" tiles to practice some watercolor glazes. I think these were going to be pears originally but ah... something happened to their shape.
I've had this tile with these 9 yellow lemon looking shapes.
When you have lemons, tangle around them!

I've spent some time this month getting artwork prepared to have more stickers printed.
These are ready for print and will cut to shape.
One day I went on a Washi Tape shopping spree. I picked up too many rolls of beautiful designs. So of course I thought about using washi tape in a Zentangle project.
I decided to try some on the 3Z tiles.
The Zentangle 3Z Tile is a 3.5" x 3.5" x 3.5" equilateral triangle. It's die cut deckle edge and rounded corners match the look and feel of our other tiles. Read more here Zentangle 3Z
My thinking was that I could make a bunch of these and then string the 3Zs together like a row of pennants or bunting. Another idea was to fit them together into a 3Z ensemble.
Here area a sample of the 3Zs I tangled with washi tape. When I finish the project I will post a follow up picture.

I love the straight lines and the shapes which develop as you explore with this tangle. The possibilities are infinite. I played for a few days in my journal. I can highly recommend it, but you don't have to take my word for it! Read the many comments on Tomas' Instagram Page.
Here is one of my attempts. I used a glass dip pen and Noodler's Ink Concord Bream and De Atramentis Billian Violet.
During Covid Stay at Home Days, Zentangle Inc. offered wonderful opportunities to explore the Zentangle Method on their YouTube Channel.
Project Pack # 9 was shared with a series of wonderful videos in April 2020. If you haven't watched any of these videos it is a MUST WATCH.

One of the things I love the most about these lessons is that they are a beginning. An inspiration and a jumping off point to further explore, tangle, relax and enjoy.
There are infinite possibilities in what you can create once you learn the tangles, the techniques and the method.
These Zendalas were all drawn with a glass tip pen.
Spending more time in my journal with ink and glass dip pen.
This was sort of a line drawing then tangling freestyle thing going on. After I got tired and didn't complete the piece. I scanned it in "as is where is".
Later I opened it and played with the image in Photoshop and added the word HOPE and some lines and some other artwork of mine that I had scanned in.
This turned into a ZIA collage.
When I use auras I find myself captivated with the result of creating bands of both delicate and rich layers of color.
In these Zentangle explorations I predominantly used the tangle Flux and the Aura technique.
The resulting design has a kind of ribbon effect.
Well I really am. I ordered a few (dozen LOL!) samples of different ink colors.
The small vial holds about an ounce.
It is amazing how much drawing/tangling one can do with an ounce of ink.Who knew!
